Indolence is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Ariel Subsector of Gateway Sector.

Mainworld Data
Indolence is a chilly, overcast world with a thick, soupy atmosphere and a dull, dark green landscape covered in thick scrubby forests.
History & Background (Dossier)
Indolence is an isolated world, in part because vessels jumping here, particularly from Somberview, sometimes experience anomalies in the function of their jump drive, thought to be linked to the Deadspace phenomenon.
The Mische Conglomerate is engaged in serious political intrigues and negotiations with this world, with the intent of incorporating it into the Conglomerate.
World Starport (St)
Indolence has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)
Indolence has a population of 90,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization
The sole Human habitation is on a large island near the equator, where the climate is more pleasant. The population is scattered across this island in communities of a few hundred.
World Technology Level (T)
Indolence possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)
Indolence is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
World Economy
The locals aren't particularly interested in offworlders or their goods. They will trade courteously enough, but if no ship ever came in to Indolence again, nobody here would care.
