Originally called the Trepida III, it was renamed for the first Regent upon his death in 1157.

Because of the shortcomings of the Imperial Heavy Grav Tank it was determined that a tank of the Trepida I's size but with the Imperial Heavy Grav Tank's performance was the design goal of the future TL–15 Grav Tank. The

This is a member of the Trepida & Astrin Grav Vehicle Family and was developed from the Trepida I in the 1150s as a cheaper alternative to the Imperial Heavy Grav Tank.
