Vilis is a high-population, heavily industrialized Imperial world in the Vilis Subsector of the Spinward Marches. The main exports of Vilis include warships, weaponry, and high-technology goods. Vilis shipyards operate under a Imperial contract to produce patrol cruisers and a larger class of frontier destroyer for the open market.

Vilis was originally settled by Sword Worlders from Gungnir (Spinward Marches 1221) -- then known as Morglay -- who named it Svavasorm. Vilis became a client state of the Imperium in 470 and a full member in 552.
