Neave is a low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- It is a member of the Dependent Worlds in the Cradle Subsector of Halcyon Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.

System data
The primary is Kublan, a dim red subdwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.00103 Sols, a mass of 0.081 Sols, and a diameter of 109,000 km. (I) a thin atmosphere radworld, (II) Vallis, a very thin atmosphere iceworld: (IIa) Neave is its only satellite and is designated the mainworld, (III) a corrosive atmosphere bigworld, (IV) a vacuum iceworld and (V) a broad icy planetoid belt form the outer system. The inner iceworld and the bigworld retain satellites.
(II) Vallis
(II) Vallis (UWP Y323000-0) orbits Kublan at a mean distance of 0.39 AU (58.4 million km), within the outer zone. It has an orbital period of 183 days 16 hours and a rotation period of 15.5 hours. The axial tilt is 14 degrees. Vallis has a diameter 4,788 km, a density of 4.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.33 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Very Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.25 bar and a composition of 93% nitrogen, 6% oxygen, and 1% argon, water vapour, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases. The atmospheric taint is caused by the very low percentage of oxygen. Approximately 31% of the surface is covered in water-ice. Mean surface temperature: –121°C. The atmosphere is static and occasional weather systems driven by the star cross the globe. The climate is seasonal.
(IIa) Neave
(IIa) Neave is the only satellite of Vallis and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 35 diameters (167,500 km). It has an orbital period of 6 days 5 hours: it is tidally locked to Vallis. The axial tilt is 2 degrees. Neave has a diameter 1,016 km, a density of 3.98 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.06 G. The world is geologically inert. Its atmosphere is rated as Vacuum. The world has no hydrographics.
Mainworld geography and topography
Total surface area: 3.24 million km².
Native lifeforms
No world in the Neave system has native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Neave has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World technology level
Neave possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World government
Neave is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
