Zivije has an exotic, corrosive, or insidious atmosphere with a small percentage of liquid, but not water, on the surface. It is an industrial world with a population of over a billion sophonts. This world is designated an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Regency of Deneb in the Rhylanor Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.

Due to the youth of the system, the life that exists on the surface consists of very primitive creatures adapted to the extreme elements.

World Geography & Climatology

Zivije is warm world with a thick, corrosive atmosphere. The small amount of free standing water is saturated with sulfur compounds and highly acidic. The thick atmosphere allows the small planet to retain significant heat from its star. The nitrogen-based atmosphere contains a high percentage of sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide; these compounds appear to contain the planetary oxygen. Geology is somewhat active, with 11 tectonic plates and several large mountain ranges. Moderate earthquakes can be expected once every 10 years along known fault lines. Volcanic activity is rare. The atmosphere ranges from lightly foggy to opaque, with a maximum VFR distance of 3 miles.

Myshka

Myshka is a tidally-locked rock with no atmosphere, the typical huge temperature difference between night and day, and deposits of methane-water on the night side.

A solar observatory with a small, rotating staff is positioned in the south polar region.

Dun

Dun is a smaller, colder world which acts as a gravitational center for the Hirogiri Stellar Observatory. The Observatory maintains a high-bandwidth connection with Zivijie and the Golden Mean Archology.

Inner Belt

The inner belt is a typical belt containing planetoids that are of similar makeup to the inner planets.

Zivije IV

A large gas giant with a relatively sparse family of moons, but home to the Marrestie Orbital Arcology. The arcology is the exclusive domain of the mainstream Church of the Stellar Divinity, and its 468,000 inhabitants are not very solicitous of visitors.

Outer Belt

A second planetoid belt circles outside the giant planet. Prospectors from the Arcology are occasionally found here.

History & Background (Dossier)

Considerable resources attracted major corporate and Imperial investment as early as 420, and its industry and population steadily grew throughout the Antebellum period.

In 604 the Zivije system was the site of the famed Battle of Zivije, one of the climactic battles of the First Frontier War, where Grand Admiral Olav hault-Plankwell smashed the gathered Zhodani/Vargr expeditionary fleet.

In 1075 Ine Givar agents smuggled a fusion warhead into Kashar, killing 2.8 million people.

During the Fifth Frontier War, the world became the farthest trailing advance point of the Zhodani invasion force, being the site of bitter fighting that almost went the Zho's way. Zivije was a primary military target and the Zhodani made several attempts to occupy the planet, including landing an assault division. However, the Zhodani were never able to secure Zivije, and their troops had to contend with a pre-planted insurgency movement. The repulse of these forces held up the Zhodani invasion of Rhylanor subsector, and they were crushed weeks later at Rhylanor by reinforcements from Corridor Sector, being the decisive victory that led to the successful prosecution of the war.

The current Executive Prime, Joerg Balkmann, is known, trusted and in his 3rd 5-year term of office. Balkmann is still relatively young at 55 years old. He is thought to be on good professional terms with the current Baron Knowln and the Count, Knowln.

Architectural styles tend to the purely functional with militaristic/tactical features on the exterior, but the interior designs can range from inspired to breathtaking.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility

Zivije, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

World Government

Zivije is a member of the 4-system County of Celepina. The worlds of the county are:

The world's seemingly oppressive government and law level are reflective of the stress of maintaining infrastructure and life support on this world. In actuality political debate is free and flowing, and criticism of the government is tolerated. Political office is open to any meritorious individual. The laws merely reflect the stringent environmental regulations and containment laws that keep the population alive. The head of state is the current Baron or Baroness, currently David Edmund Knowln. The immediate lieutenant of the Baron is the Executive Prime. A unicameral legislature creates laws and sets policy at the descretion of the Baron, who can veto any decisions. A regimented Judicial court system reviews the laws.

Cities and towns usually have a Executive Mayor, advised by a legislative council, elected periodically by adults older than 25 with educational certificates from the school system.

World Culture

Local culture is heavily influenced by Imperium transmissions, though fashions are typically 5 years behind.Education is provided to age of 22, focusing on mathematics, engineering or science education. All cities and some towns are home to Universities. Marriage customs vary by cultural and subcultural standards, but generally follow Imperium norms. Burial customs typically involve desolution, where the deceased is dissolved. Any solids remaining are either crushed or melted into a remembrance object.

World Economy

Population 7.27 Billion sophonts

Considerable resources attracted major corporate and Imperial investment as early as 420, and its industry and population steadily grew throughout the Antebellum period. Sternmetal Horizons maintains a number of orbital industrial facilities, and its presence insystem is second in size only to its Regency headquarters in Rhylanor.

The Zivijie starport is home to the Naravisji Planetary University, which is a former extension program of the Glisten Institute of Planetelogical Studies (GLIPS).

Terraforming projects carried out by both institutions have not profited, and the world remains under heavy study in hopes of future transformation of the atmosphere.

The other population centers are:

Pusuurk City, a modern city and financial hub.
Karirbush, a city located at a relatively high altitude (+2km). Occasional sky views.
Kashar, a mining town and manufacturing center.
Mikuunki, architectural and art center.
Kafka Town, small city on the shores of a larger lake. Power production center.
Kiiki, remote terraforming research center.

There are advanced, global communications networks in place with triple redundancy.

Zivije's primary export are high-tech devices and developments.
