1096 ''Ocelot'' Incident. In 1096 Focaline was the location for the now famous Ocelot Incident.  The Destroyer CE ''Ocelot'' was on patrol in the Focaline system, having completed a series of training operations to include search and rescue, navigational buoy tending and Zero G vacc suit training, ''Ocelot'' was preparing to leave the system when she received a faint distress signal.  Once lured down into the upper atmosphere she was set upon and swarmed by vacc suited corsairs from the not so in distress vessel.  Unbeknownst to the corsairs there were five members of the Interstellar Star Scouts aboard the ''Ocelot'' ranging in age from eleven to seventeen years of age.  The scouts were aboard for training purposes and were aboard the ship's Gig ready to launch in case of a man overboard alert.  When the corsairs swept aboard the Ocelot, there was no indication the gig was occupied and it was overlooked during the search for survivors.  The corsairs placed a [[prize crew]] aboard ''Ocelot'' and jumped her to their secret staging base in the asteroid fields of Shionthy.

On the midnight watch of the second night in jump, the "children" came out of the gig and cleared the ship compartment by compartment in a mostly one sided battle with the "children" entering compartments with drunken sleeping corsairs to hack them with cutlass and firing with shotguns on the corsairs who felt completely safe from harm whilst nestled securely in jump space.  Upon emergence from jump space, the new acting captain chose to refuel at the system gas giant and jumped to Wochiers, refueled at the gas giant and then jumped again to Regina where Ocelot reported to the Naval Highport to make her report of the incident.

Focaline is an agricultural world with an ideal environment for producing food from plants, animals, or other lifeforms. The system has a population in the hundreds of thousands of sophonts. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Aramis Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Focaline, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and a baronet, and the fiefdom of a baron. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

Native Lifeforms

History & Background (Dossier)

Focaline's major industry is Groat-raising; both cloth and unprocessed groat hair are exported, and groat meat is considered a delicacy by the neighboring Vargr. [2]

World Starport

Focaline has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

The IISS has established a minor Trade Station at this world to encourage commerce with the Vargr. [3]

Historical Data

In 1096 Focaline was the location for the now famous Ocelot Incident. The Destroyer CE Ocelot was on patrol in the Focaline system, having completed a series of training operations to include search and rescue, navigational buoy tending and Zero G vacc suit training, Ocelot was preparing to leave the system when she received a faint distress signal. Once lured down into the upper atmosphere she was set upon and swarmed by vacc suited corsairs from the not so in distress vessel. Unbeknownst to the corsairs there were five members of the Interstellar Star Scouts aboard the Ocelot ranging in age from eleven to seventeen years of age. The scouts were aboard for training purposes and were aboard the ship's Gig ready to launch in case of a man overboard alert. When the corsairs swept aboard the Ocelot, there was no indication the gig was occupied and it was overlooked during the search for survivors. The corsairs placed a prize crew aboard Ocelot and jumped her to their secret staging base in the asteroid fields of Shionthy.

A beacon memorializing the loss of the officers and crew of the Ocelot has been placed in the L5 point of the gas giant within the system.
