The Treehangers are a technologically sophisticated sophont species.

Description (Specifications)

The Treehangers are a sophont species native to Sarunt (Halcyon 1939), located within the Great Void on the rimward edge of Halcyon Sector.

Treehangers are insectivorous tree-dwellers with an oval body covered in waterproof feathery structures and a torso and head resembling that of a lizard. They have two forearms that end in delicate long-fingered hands and move by using three prehensile tails. Treehangers are social, acquisitive, intensely competitive, and societal advancement is generally through displays of prowess.

History & Background (Dossier)

The remoteness of their homeworld means that they remain largely uncontacted, though tanker-supported long-range ships do occasionally visit.

They inhabit communal forest cities resembling vast collections of enormous bubbles constructed high amongst living trees. Their technology is primitive: only a very few groups have begun to use metal. They are, however, highly skilled at producing and manipulating natural waxes and resins of all kinds, and much of their technology is based around the sophisticated use of these materials. Treehangers live in competitive agrarian “nations” based along lines of colouring, language and common culture.
