Sloethu is a water world with 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world is a satellite of a gas giant or another planet in the system. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Shallows Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Sloethu, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Luunnuuan.

System Data

Sloethu is the inner satellite of Denerta, a large gas giant.

The Sloethu system contains unusually high concentrations of meteoric and cometary debris, and many of the bodies pass through Denerta's orbit. As yet there have been no major impacts on the world, although scientists are monitoring a massive body named Icarus and predict an eighty percent chance that it will hit the gas giant or one of its moons sometime in the early 1130s.

Mainworld Topography and Geography

The planet is covered by an ocean of ice tens of kilometers deep. Below the ice a combination of pressure, salinity, and heat from geothermal activity create liquid water. The glaciers and ice floes are constantly moving, buckling, and folding into ridges. In places chains of volcanic peaks protrude above the ice, and on the largest is Pelisad, the world's starport city.

History and Background

The colony has a long history of scientific research, specializing in life support systems. The life support systems in Pelisad use a combination of mechanical and bioengineering organic technology.
