Lir is a world suited to becoming an agricultural world, but with a population between 10,000 and 100,000 sophonts it lacks the capability to produce or process sufficient resources to export its projected agricultural produce. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Iiradu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Lir, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and a baronet. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Laadkip An.

Astrography and Planetology

Lir is a member of the Apge Run.

In-system travel is permitted but landing on Lir is not. Skeptics noting the irregular presence of large naval ships in the vicinity have claimed the virus warning is cover for some, more hidden, secret. The Imperial authorities categorically deny these rumors.

Native Lifeforms: Virus-Rich Biosphere

Lir is something of a mystery world. Since first discovered by the IISS, it has been quarantined from off-world contact due to the virus-rich atmosphere, which is lethal to humans. Colonization has never been attempted and the only occupants of the system are an IISS base. The Scout Base enforces the quarantine and performs research into the atmospheric viruses.

There are a limited range of flora and fauna on the planet, but study has been limited by the need to use remote drones and robots. Few samples have been brought off the planet for fear of viral contamination.

History and Background

Historical records show that this world was listed as an Argushiigi Admegulasha Bilanidin repository during the First Imperium, but there is no clear record of when the repository was shut down and abandoned.

World Starport (Sp)

Lir has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
