Polyphemus is a high-population world located within Capella Subsector of the Solomani Rim. The system is part of the Near Boötes Cluster and a member of the Solomani Confederation.
Polyphemus is a freak among worlds. Long ago, it became tide-locked to its red-dwarf primary, its volatile compounds freezing out on the night side. Quite recently, however (in the last million years or so) some cataclysmic event restarted the planet's rotation with respect to its primary. How this happened is not yet known, although it's clear that there was a massive release of energy. Most of the planet's surface rocks show signs of melting, and the planet's core is much warmer than would be expected for such a small world.
