Ledge is a preindustrial world.

  • As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This world hopes to one day be one of the subsector's industrial powerhouses, but hasn't yet realized that dream. The leaders of this world are regularly embarking on trade missions to attract more investment capital, worker-immigrants, and other necessary stepping stones to achieve this goal.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Iusea Subsector of Diaspora Sector in the Domain of Sol.

History & Background (Dossier)

The greatest tragedy in this subsector was on Ledge, where 10 billion died. A three-year conflict between Lucan and the Solomani systematically shattered the world’s cities. Only 300 million were combat casualties; the remaining 9.7 billion succumbed to disease, starvation, dehydration, and lawlessness. Ironically, the battle for Ledge continues.

The loyalist planetary military forces still hold the upper hand, cadred by the last of Lucan’s troops. The Solomani forces are their primary opposition and remain holed up in the mountain ranges that ring the edge of the southern polar circle. Twenty percent of the planet’s population supports the Solomani, whose conduct has been more humane than Lucan's legionnaires'.

With the planet's economic infrastructure blasted to smithereens, the sides produce their own materiel. The locals manage TL 7 production, and the renegade Solomani make do with TL 6, but both seek out high-tech imports.

Ledge is a grim paradise for mercenaries and scavengers. Most mercenaries work forthe loyalists, including two TL 9 mechanized infantry regiments from the Vassalry Judiciate. The units working for the Solomani are resewed for special operations and include armored batalions from the New Order Vigilance Alliance.

Civilian life is profitable for scavengers and technicians which are highly sought by both sides.

Local Nobility

Ledge, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.
