The term "Soldier" is a generic term for a professional trained and disciplined fighter in a military surface or ground fighting force or army, as distinguished from nautical forces, aeronautical & aerospace forces (proper), and space forces (whether ship crew or shipboard landing/assault forces).
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Please see:
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The term Soldier derives from the Ancient Anglic, further derived from the Terran Latin language of the ancient Terran pre-Industrial Roman Empire of the Mediterranean Sea region of southwestern Eurasia. During its latter days, its professional state legionaries were paid in gold coin (known as a "Solidus" - the pay rate of the legionary) or in an equivalently valued amount of salt (which was both a valuable and versatile substance in the day), and hence would receive his "salary payment".
Expected Technological Progression of Infantry Personal Mobility[edit]
- Foot Infantry (Peds) → Cavalry (Riding Beast) → Mechanization (Bicycle) → Mechanization (Groundcraft) → Mechanization (Aircraft) → Mechanization (Gravcraft) → Augmented Battle Dress (Power Armor) → Mechanization (G-Carrier) → Battle Pod
