Wildeman is a poor, non-agricultural and nonindustrial world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It has few prospects for economic development. Life here is drastically bleak.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Tobia Subsector of Trojan Reach Sector.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
The system is located on both the Hierate and Florian routes, two important trade connections between the Imperium and the Aslan Hierate and Florian League.
It is part of the eponymous Wildeman Cluster.
Stellar Data[edit]
System Data[edit]
There are two habitable secondary worlds in the system.
The most important body after the mainworld is Heaven, a colonised world with a population approaching one million but with little offworld presence. Its atmosphere is only breathable at high altitudes. The population are confined to several widely separated mountain ranges, using aircraft to travel between them. Much of the planetary surface is too low for Human habitation, and typically ocean.
Nova Hades, meanwhile, is a dense-atmosphere world that orbits at the inner edge of the star's warm zone. This hostile jungle world is noted for highly aggressive native lifeforms, though there is a small Human population.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
It is rumored that life exists in the deep waters of Wildeman's subterranean "superlakes". Volcanic vents are considered the best prospects for investigation. There are unconfirmed claims that creatures have been encountered in waters well away from the vents.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Wildeman system has a reputation for mysterious occurrences, such as psionic encounters, unusual breakdowns in ships and equipment. Rumors also abound of "space kraken" sightings.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Wildeman has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Wildeman has a population of 4,000,000 sophonts (millions).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization[edit]
The city of Rhavain reinvented itself as Wildeman City in the 700s and today is the largest city on the planet.
- Many buildings protrude up through the bedrock. Expanses of bare rock are broken by odd towers and blocky factories, often with landing areas for grav vehicles on the sides or top.
- Wildeman City is served by the planet's main downport, although it is very modest compared to the orbital port.
Of the other city-states, the largest and most prosperous is Maraine, which was once Rhavain's main competitor. The Independent City-State of Kurai (ICSK) is today most fiercely opposed to the influence of Wildeman City. The city of Ord Menas, meanwhile, is constructed close to the world's largest underground water reserves. These are part of a very large series of caverns.
World Government (G)[edit]
Wildeman has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
- Independent City-State of Kurai
- Maraine
- Ord Menas
- Wildeman City
- Wildeman Mutual Protection Alliance: A collection of five small cities and several minor settlements.
World Military[edit]
A small system defence flotilla is based out of Wildeman Highport. It serves mostly in a 'coast guard' role.
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Wildeman has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Wildeman possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Economy[edit]
Trade Data[edit]
Bulk exports from Iilgan provide the majority of the food on Wildeman.
