Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Belgard is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Belgard has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Belgard has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Belgard is a low-population hellworld. The system is the seat of a minor polity called the Belgardian Sojournate, the only local power in Egryn, which directly controls the captive government at neighboring Gorgon (0205).

The planet's name is probably a corruption of Beauregard, after the nation's founder.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Belgard has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Urbanization[edit]

The lone settlement on Belgard is the city of Sojourn, located high in the mountains. Sojourn is the site of the spaceport and the home base of the Belgardian fleet, which is made up of ancient and increasingly balky Imperial escorts and small military craft, none displacing more than two thousand tons.

World Economy[edit]

Much of Belgard's natural resources have been ravaged in an unplanned, callous manner, as the Belgardians do not see the planet as their permanent home. Prime trade goods are animal pelts, precious gems and -- most importantly -- naturally occurring zuchai crystals. The effective TL of the Belgardians is 6 in most areas; TL-9 refers to their spacefaring technology.
