Sepelin is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Esser Subsector of Divide Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- It is a part of the Bright Peninsula.

System Data[edit]
Malpiri-Sepelin System[edit]
The primary is Malpiri, an ordinary white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 4.42 Sols, a mass of 1.38 Sols, and a diameter of 2.031 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a very thin atmosphere inner world, (III) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (IV) a dense stony planetoid belt. (V) Sepelin orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (VI) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world forms the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(V) Sepelin[edit]
(V) Sepelin is designated the mainworld. It orbits Malpiri at a mean distance of 1.32 AU (197.5 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 106 days and a rotation period of 27 hours. The axial tilt is 16 degrees. Sepelin has a diameter of 14,929 km, a density of 5.62 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.19 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 2.09 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 22% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the high percentage of inert gases. Approximately 99.4% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 1.2m. Mean surface temperature: 4°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Cool and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe.
Satellite[edit]
Sepelin retains a single natural satellite, a ice-capped trace atmosphere worldlet named Spandau:
- (Va) Spandau (UWP Y311000-0, orbiting at 10 Diameters/150,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 701 million km², Water surface area: 697 million km², Land surface area: 4 million km².
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Malpiri-Sepelin System[edit]
Sepelin, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (VI) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Sepelin has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Sepelin possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World government[edit]
Sepelin is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
