Scion Mauler model Combat Walker (TECH LEVEL 8)[edit]
The planet of Kaashik (world) maintains an old reserve unit called the Scion Light Brigade. Their battalions deploy these Combat Walkers in the artillery battalion in anti-aircraft batteries of eight air defense vehicles with numerous ordnance resupply and refueling vehicles. They have radically sloped frontal armor on the chassis and turret and are lightly armored to resist small arms fire and shell fragments. They carry roughly twice the armor protection as the Hovercraft in their brigade. They are sealed and equipped with overpressure to resist NBC/CBR threats. They can't maneuver in the absence of an atmosphere. They carry three crew, a driver/mechanic, gunner and commander. They are handicapped by their enormous 79.2m3 transmission which occupies 70% of the chassis volume. This limits fuel capacity to only two hours which means they have a very limited operational endurance and patrol range before requiring refueling. They typically don't go anywhere without dedicated refueling vehicles accompanying them. The six-legged suspension experiences a very high ground pressure which reduces cross country speed to 50% of the road speed. They can get stuck in the mud 3+ and in sand or soft earth 5+. They are high profile vehicles with good ground clearance. Their weight takes a toll on roadways and most bridges can't support their mass. They can wade at shallow river fords. They lack any secondary weapon systems in this dedicated air-defense role. One mechanic/technician with the appropriate tools and access to a workshop can maintain this vehicle.

Power:[edit]
- a standard 9.9-megawatt MHD turbine power plant consumes 2,970 liters of fuel/ hour
- Fuel capacity 5,940 liters, enough for 2 hours.
- Power to weight ratio is 58 and ground pressure is a ruinous 12.51637218 tons/m2.
Weapons:[edit]
There is a fully stabilized radically front sloped 28m3 turret (1.25m tall, 4m wide, 7m long) on the chassis deck.
They mount the Fang gun system, a 6cm twin barreled, hyper velocity, electric action autocannon with TL–8 direct fire control. Rounds mass 6kg and there is storage for 800 KEAP rounds which are included in the purchase price. The ROF is 40 and there is enough ammunition for 20 fire phases. The weapon can engage 4 targets/phase and has +2 signature when it fires. The direct fire characteristics are:
Effective Range | Long Range | Extreme Range |
2km (30) +3 w/KEAP ammo | 3km (27) +2 | 4.5km (24) +1 |
Ammunition[edit]
The Ammunition available includes:
Type | Characteristics | Price |
HE | (11/1/2) | Cr30 |
HEAP | (26) | Cr45 |
