Raselk is a poor, nonindustrial world.

  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This world has few prospects for economic development.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Demon's Eye Subsector of Far Home Sector.

System Data[edit]

Lasko-Raselk System[edit]

The primary is Lasko, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0334 Sols, a mass of 0.4574 Sols, and a diameter of 711,000 km. (I-I) an exotic atmosphere radworld, and (I-II) Raselk, designated the mainworld, have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, (IV) a large gas giant, (V-I) a ringed large gas giant, and (V-II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Kubal Subsystem[edit]

The companion is Kubal, a tiny dwarf star that lies approximately 163 AU from Lasko. It has a luminosity of 0.00003 Sols, a mass of 1.11 Sols, and a diameter of 8,450 km. (I) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (II) a vacuum iceworld, and (III) a small gas giant form the outer system. Both planets retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(I-II) Raselk[edit]

(I-II) Raselk is designated the mainworld. It orbits Lasko at a mean distance of 0.23 AU (34.4 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 59 days 14 hours: it is tidally locked to Lasko. The axial tilt is 3 degrees. Raselk has a diameter of 8,236 km, a density of 4.35 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.51 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Very Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.22 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen (N2), 17% oxygen (O2), 2% argon (Ar), 1% xenon (Xe), 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), and 1% water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the high percentage of inert gases, principally argon and xenon. Approximately 27% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water and water-ice: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: -4°C. The climate is rated as Cold and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is slow and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the seas work across the globe. The climate is static.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 213 million km², Land surface area: 155 million km², Water and ice surface area: 58 million km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Lasko-Raselk System[edit]

Raselk, the mainworld, has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

No other world in the system is known to have native life.

Kubal Subsystem[edit]

No world in the subsystem is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

No information yet available.

World starport[edit]

Raselk has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level[edit]

Raselk possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

World government[edit]

Raselk is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
