Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Isolated in the Silveron Deep, Paradise of El is inaccessible by Jump-2 ships except by a lengthy transit along the Gateway Sword.
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Atmosphere[edit]
Oxygen content is a little high, compensating for low pressure at sea level. High ground can be uncomfortable or even dangerous for those not acclimatised.
Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]
Much of the land on Paradise of El is covered in forest or coarse moorland, making overland travel outside cleared areas difficult. There are also extensive grasslands at some latitudes.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Native fauna includes the Pokoss, or 'spider-ants', omnivorous creatures that resemble insects but are biologically closer to reptiles.
History & Background[edit]
In the 900s, the Viyard Concourse underwent a period of expansion and attempted to annex various systems in the Morell Scatter. The operation wasn't a success, but in the case of Paradise of El, a small military base was set up at the Starport, and Viyard officials began to issue dictates to the government. The inhabitants of El, accustomed to being left to their own business, reacted with a vigorous but inept guerrilla campaign. Since Viyard was now finding its Trailing possessions to be an embarrassment rather than an asset, an unspoken compromise was eventually reached; a Viyard-backed government would rule the planet from its starport fortress, and the population would ignore it.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Paradise of El has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
900,000,000
Urbanization[edit]
The inhabitants mostly dwell in small cities with surrounding towns. The layout of these is generally similar; a central hub with concentric rings of villages and farming hamlets or ranching stations. Cities are linked by rail or river transport to regional capitals. The world's central administration is located at the starport.
