History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
As jump technology has developed, an increasing number of worlds have become interstellar crossroads and each time FTL technology develops, change occurs, transforming some worlds into new focuses of wealth and commerce, and leaving others as cultural and commercial backwaters.
Under TL-15 technology in Charted Space, communication is limited to the speed of travel, which greatly limits interstellar trade. Many interstellar economists predict that if FTL communication is ever developed, a Galactic Stock Exchange world might become possible. Until then, most markets are managed at the subsector and sector levels with nexus worlds and capitals often standing in as focuses of interstellar trade.
