Mote is a vacuum world, with a complete lack of atmosphere. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Ushra Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Mote, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. During the Long Night this world was named Sennur Guun. It is the homeworld of the Moteans.

Remarks

Native Sophont: Moteans[edit]

A distinct Human ethnic group, Moteans have developed under near zero-G and are now a tall, spindly race that are unable to withstand gravity above 0.5g without exoskeletons.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The settlement was tunneled out originally by miners in 10, and a small mining settlement remained. This population developed over centuries into a distinct racial culture.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Mote has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Mote has a population of 20,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • The population is Human, of the Motean ethnicity.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly used on this world:

World Government (G)[edit]

Mote is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Mote has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Mote possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
