Lendaarii is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Rure Subsector of Gushemege Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- During the Long Night this world was named Indi.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This world is part of the Platon Cluster.
Stellar Data[edit]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
While not a part of the Lancian Cultural Region, this world is essentially Lancian in character.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Lendaarii, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Lendaarii has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Lendaarii has a population of 70,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Government (G)[edit]
Lendaarii has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
World Military[edit]
Most Lancians do not like the idea of permanent military forces, and even less the idea of serving in them. As a result, most standing forces, the Pulehov, are small and often composed of non-Lancians. In times of war, the combined Lancian community -- the peoples' army, the Silkku -- is the ultimate defense of this and other Lancian worlds.
Law[edit]
Lancian courts, called Ammeinha, are made up of 13 person "benches", a combined judiciary and jury, similar to Solomani Courts Martial. Each district's Ammeinha reflects the district demographics. The emphasis is very much on trial by one's peers.
World Culture[edit]
There is a two-tier system of Lancian marriage. At the first level, marriage is seen as an arrangement for procreation and can be expected to be dissolved once any children are weaned. The second tier is a bond for life, and its breaking is a major trauma in Lancian society. Often such "high" marriages grow out of the partners' final "low" marriage.
- Laws of child custody are simple; first-born to same sex parent, then alternate parent.
History-Era: New Era[edit]
In Imperial times Lendaarii was an isolated Lancian settled world. Sustaining the exotic environment with their TL–5 equipment in small dome villages. Virus had no effect to this culture because the tradeport had closed years before the end of the war.
Traders who visit Lendaarii have to announce their cargo and wait for a radio message. If a city is interested in trading they'll send a message and a radio beam for the flight path. It will most likely allow trade if a variety of minor lots from Booce are carried. The inhabitants are not interested in any equipment of TL:8+ or TL:4-, but agricultural products are likely to have a market as local production is limited to hydroponic farms.
The main export, nitrogen compounds, is likely to find a market with TL–7 weapons production. The cargo should be handled with extreme care as it is explosive and corrosive. Traders should prepare for this cargo before they jump to Lendaarii, as cargo containers are not sold locally.
