Kedzudh is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Commonality of Kedzudh in the Firgr Subsector of Gvurrdon Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
The planetoid typically considered the mainworld features frozen oceans with complex lifeforms beneath the ice.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The coalescing member worlds of what became the Commonality of Kedzudh initially couldn't agree on the location of a capital. It was therefore placed here, a sparsely populated world "in the middle". This also had the benefit of reducing inter-world tensions, since conflicting claims of ownership over Kedzudh's planetoids had been a bone of contention between member systems.
The seat of the Commonality government is a large orbital spaceport, Kedzudh Aengkh.
The relevant planetoid itself remains sparsely inhabited. Under its ice is a complex ecology including non-sentient biomechanical robots built at a high tech level by an unknown race at an unknown point. They are of great interest to Vargr scientists and engineers.
The University of Kedzudh is based at the capital. Its original purpose was to bring scholars and scientists from each member world together to study the living artifacts. Some Imperial and Zhodani specialists are also involved.
World Starport[edit]
Kedzudh has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- Vargr starports reflect the variety of Vargr architecture, with many disparate styles of building, each having their own unique ornamentation and gaudy colour scheme, and all competing for the attention of the onlooker. Emblems for the major shipping lines and port facilities abound.
World Economy[edit]
Since the Commonality has good relations with most neighboring states, including the Third Imperium and the Zhodani Consulate, a number of Vargr merchant combines have arranged to use the polity as a "flag of convenience", paying a small annual fee for the privilege.
Corporations based here include the merchant line Enksoe Aloz.
Any illegal or stolen goods found by the Commonality's navy are confiscated and used to help finance the fleet. Merchants who want their goods back are permitted to appeal within one week of the goods being impounded.
