Katris has a population between 10,000 and 10 million sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Ushra Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Katris, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. During the Long Night this world was named Kenkha.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
Katris is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.
Stellar Data[edit]
History and Background[edit]
The Katris system would be largely uninteresting were it not for the fact that a huge space battle occurred here during the Interstellar Wars era. The battle was fought on the edge of the system, close to the Oort cloud.
Although no-one has been able to actually locate the site, lumps of wreckage and even whole sections of ships occasionally tumble into the system, taking up a cometary orbit round the stars. These are worth a fortune on the collector's market and are highly prized by historians and archaeologists. Oddly, all the wreckage recovered so far has been Vilani.
Katris's main export is powdered Khafi root, from a prolific plant that has been known to grow to a height of 3 metres and spread to 8 metres from a single root. Powdered Khafi root, sold under the Katris 'Pure Blend' label, has become a popular, if expensive stimulant drink sold throughout the sector.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Katris has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are among the most commonly used on this world:
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
- Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
World Government (G)[edit]
Katris has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
