Irlaiw is a high-population world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- The world serves as the subsector capital with the significant extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- This world is part of the Aslan Hierate, as a world where multiple clans have split control of the planet, in the Silraaihe Subsector of Trojan Reach Sector.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
This world is part of the eponymous Irlaiw Cluster.
Stellar Data[edit]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Irlaiw is a high-population Aslan Hierate world. The overpopulated planet relies on regular offworld shipments of food. The heavy shipping traffic and associated backlog is reflected in the starport's Class-C rating.
Irlaiw was colonized by the Wahtoi Clan approximately two thousand years ago, and was the one of the first worlds settled in Silraaihe Subsector. The world has evolved from a mere trading post into a major world and the effective subsector capital.
Irlaiwi culture is notable for two reasons: (1) territory is assigned based on merit, not conquest; and (2) male and female Aslan are not distinguished; females may hold territory and males are trained to handle technology and money.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Irlaiw has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The class-C rating reflects the sheer backlog of traffic more than the actual state of facilities; most ships will be kept waiting in orbit for three to six days before being assigned a docking berth, and Irlaiwi traffic control is notorious for impounding vessels that dare land without permission.
World Languages[edit]
- Trokh: The universal language of the modern Aslan monoculture.
- Aslan Languages: Note that some Aslan clans retain obscure or archaic languages for personal use in addition to Trokh.
Urbanization[edit]
Aslan architecture tends to the organic and the rounded. They favour artistry over efficiency in the design of their buildings -- every Aslan structure is different. Even in mass-produced housing, residents will strive to make their territory uniquely theirs.
- Since Aslan descend from predators and enjoy open terrain, their buildings often feature both open rooms of great size and a number of concealed rooms, balconies, hidden passageways and hideaways.
World Government (G)[edit]
Irlaiw has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
- Irlaiw remains outside the explicit control of any clan. The world serves as a lakh earleatrais, a neutral "sanctuary" where anyone can meet, even during open warfare, to gather, discuss, and negotiate. Usually, a status of lakh earleatrais only applies to a specific location, for a specific period of time; however, the entire world of Irlaiw has permanently gained this status.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Irlaiw possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
