The Idkurkian Big Gun is an Ancient artifact that fell to the surface of the world Malad shortly before the founding of the Third Imperium.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The "Big Gun" is the remains of a starship weapon-mount in the form of a mottled cylinder approximately 12.3 meters long, varying in diameter between 0.73 meters to 1.45 meters with numerous ridges and semi-regular depressions in its surface. Its far end is attached to a blasted slightly curved irregular piece of plate measuring between 0.63 meters and 0.74 meters thick. It masses 498.9 metric tons and has a density of 40.3 tonnes/m3. There are two holes on the inside of the hull opposite the cylinder. Raw fusion-plasma directed into the holes produces a measurable emission of mesons and muons from the end of the cylinder.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The "Big Gun" originally fell to the surface of the world Malad (then called "Idkurk") in the Massilia Sector (Massilia 1514/Vaait Subsector) shortly before the founding of the Third Imperium. Thought to be a meteor at first, it inexplicably did not show up on any planetary defense sensors until the last moment, subsequently impacting the surface and creating a 200-meter diameter crater. Analysis determined that the object had originated in interstellar space sometime between 170,00 and 230,000 years ago. It was eventually placed on display in the Trentan Federation Museum of Science and Technology on Dubleen (Massilia 1515).
