Gra-Bie has both an unbreathable thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water, making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Pretoria Subsector of Deneb Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Gra-Bie, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. 80% of the world's population is the Variant Human Race Jonkeereen.

Era: New Era
Gra-Bie has both an unbreathable thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water, making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. It is a member of Regency of Deneb in the Pretoria Subsector of Deneb Sector. 80% of the world's population is the Variant Human Race Jonkeereen.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
This system is located on the L'sis Main.
Stellar Data[edit]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This cold rock is home to a loose assemblage of eccentrics. The most prominent locals are several wealthy families that colonized this barren rock following the Solomani Rim War. They objected to what they perceived as the growing conformity and acceptance of tyranny by the Imperial mainstream, and moved here to live free of the fetters of Imperial authority. The group's ideology became a casualty of its own success, however. The families quickly squared off against each other over issues of civic responsibility, privacy and provision of services. Eventually each family "seceded" from their fellows by sealing off their quarters from their neighbors, and asking the Imperial authorities to recognize their individual claims of sovereignty.
This world has also become home to a community of Jonkereen.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Gra-Bie has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Gra-Bie has population of 100 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
- This refers to the non-Jonkeereen; the numbers of the Jonkeereen locals are unclear but not much larger.
World Government (G)[edit]
Gra-Bie has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Gra-Bie has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Gra-Bie possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
New Era[edit]
The single settlement surrounds the starport, radiating outwards on a series of spoke-like underground passages that are only connected at the hub. Antebellum visitors were confined to the starport extrality limit, and had to apply for visas to visit each individual commune. Each commune would then send armed escorts to retrieve "approved" visitors. The extrality limits were lifted by the Representational Reforms, and now each commune must secure against unwanted intrusion at their own boundaries. The real reason for this excessive security is for privacy. The libertarian impulse has been eroded by the burgeoning wealth of the locals, who are mostly professionals tied into the economy on nearby Urnas. The world is now essentially a private estate or vacation home for the original settlers, and most of the population is now transient in nature.
