The Gladius class Combat Walker is a Walker.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Gladius Combat Walker (TECH LEVEL 8): The Legions of Vey (world) use these two legged walkers for close infantry support down to the squad level. These landmate/mecha scout ahead clearing the way for infantry and calling in artillery strikes. They are designed on Vey (world) to be small and easy to transport. The single driver/gunner has an arsenal of weapons available, and can typically only operate one system at one time. The laser carbine is used for target designation and artillery spotting. Most crew members assigned to these vehicles are trained forward observers. The weapons are stabilized but do not require elaborate fire control systems. One oversight, the vehicle is not sealed and lacks life support or over pressure to deal with NBC/CBR threats. Operators must typically wear a vacuum suit. The design has only 2 hours of fuel. The anti-laser aerosols have been known to blow back into the crew space. Because of the lighter armor, they are equipped with a rocket escape ejection seat. It mounts a stabilized weapon package, with a chin mounted coaxial 7mm Gatling Gun, a laser carbine for target designation, and a remote turret on the left side of the chassis firing forward and to the left flank with a 4cm RAM automatic grenade launcher. Finally, on the right, side are four TAC missile rails which requires one crew to externally reload the 49kg missiles manually. Designed to resist artillery fragments and man portable small arms, light crew served anti-armor weapons are required to defeat its armor. They are considered an inexpensive vehicle and are popular with lower tech worlds along The Last Line. They can go anywhere infantry can go, but due to the high ground pressure they can get stuck in mud on a roll of 6 on a d6. They can not cross water barriers unaided and require an atmosphere to function and are hampered by their short endurance and operational range. It relies on its missiles for anti-aircraft and anti-armor work.

Basic Vehicle Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Army and IISS Universal Vehicle Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the vehicle when applicable. Tonnage on the universal vehicle profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary.
