Garill is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Esser Subsector of Divide Sector.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

Garill has a solitary primary star.

System Data[edit]

Knefflet-Garill System[edit]

The primary is Knefflet, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.352 Sols, a mass of 0.774 Sols, and a diameter of 1.168 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet and (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world. (III) The Garill Main Belt orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a vacuum iceworld, (V) a sparse rocky planetoid belt, (VI) a ringed small gas giant, (VII) a small ice giant, (VIII) a sparse icy planetoid belt, and (IX) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Most of the outer worlds retain satellites.

Maiworld Data[edit]

(III) Garill Main Belt[edit]

(III) the Garill Main Belt orbits Knefflet within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 0.7 AU from the star and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 100 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 0.5 AU from Knefflet and the outer edge of the belt is considered to lie at approximately 0.9 AU. The main inhabited body is named Garill Prime, with a mean orbital distance of 0.63 AU around the star and an orbital period of 207 days 14 hours. It has a long axis of 230 km, a density of 3.29 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.011 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrographics. Mean surface temperature: 110°C in sunlight, -170°C in shadow.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Knefflet-Garill System[edit]

No world in the system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

No information yet available.

World starport[edit]

Garill has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level[edit]

Garill possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World government[edit]

Garill is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
