The House of Daarnulud is an old family tracing its heritage back to the Rule of Man on Old Terra by way of Vland. In the early days of the Third Imperium the family moved to the frontiers of the Marches, Lothar hault-Daarnulud being subsequently elevated to the titles of Duke of Chronor and Archduke of the Far Marches. These titles were effectively lost after the conclusion of the conflict with the Zhodani Consulate that became known as the First Frontier War. It is rumored that Archduke Lothar secretly backed both Grand Admiral Olav hault-Plankwell and Grand Admiral The Duchess Arbellatra Alkhalikoi in their respective bids for the Iridium Throne after the First and Second Frontier Wars.
Lothar's son Felix hault-Daarnulud was an advisor to the Empress Margaret I, by whom he was given a grant to found the Daarnulud Design Bureau on Efate in 707.
The current head of the family (as of 1105) is the Count Ivor hault-Daarnulud, who holds the positions of Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Daarnulud Design Bureau, and serves as Director of Special Projects.
