Epsilon Hydrae Ca / Epsilon Hydrae AB

The Epsilon Hydrae is a quinary star system (also called Minazal III) composed of a close pair AB (G5 III / A8 V) component with an orbiting C component (F5 V). The C-component itself has a very close companion, and the entire system is orbited by a Distant Companion (Epsilon Hydrae D).
Epsilon Hydrae A (known as Ashlesha) is a yellow-white G5 III giant star, orbited by a near companion A8 V component (Epsilon Hydrae B) with a 15-year orbital period, and an additional Far Companion C-component of type F5 V orbiting the AB pair with a period of 870 years. The C-component itself has a very close companion with a 9.9047 day-orbit of eccentricity e=0.62, and there is a Distant Companion (Epsilon Hydrae D) with a 10,000 year orbital period.
The Epsilon Hydrae star system as a whole carries the designation Minazal III, and lies approximately 39.6pc from Terra, and is located in a Rimward/Rimtrailing direction from Terra at bearing 220.7o Galactic Longitude and +28.5o North Galactic Latitude.
- The independent star systems Delta Hydrae, Eta Hydrae, Epsilon Hydrae, Rho Hydrae, and Zeta Hydrae are each known by the name "Minazal" and have been designated Minazal I thru V by astronomers, respectively, for clarity.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Epsilon Hydrae system is the location of the world Minazal/Subra (Neworld 1718), which orbits the B-component of the system.
