The rank of Commissioner is the most senior of the command ranks within a metropolitan Police Force, while smaller urban environments may simply have a Chief as their seniormost command rank.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
While the rank of Commissioner is the head of the police force, there may be sufficient personnel that the force needs to be subdivided into smaller units and in these cases the senior command ranks are often sub-divided into some or all of the below:
Within a Frontier or Rural Constabulary region, the head position is often overseen directly by a governmental ministry (normally the Interior Ministry), and the appointed governmental position of ministerial oversight is nominally subdivided as follows:
