Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]
Chicago is a cool world, orbiting at the outer ranges of its sun's habitable zone. Most of the planet's water is tied up in polar icecaps. Rather than live in these glacial regions, the Chicagoans settled in the northern temperate zone, 400 kilometers from the nearest source of water. That water source is a glacier-fed mountain lake at the southern tip of the Peoria Mountains. At the southern end of the range, glacier meltoff forms a large lake. Early settlers dammed this lake and ran underground conduits 400 kilometers south to their desert settlement, named Little Windy.
