Channel is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Libert Subsector of Diaspora Sector in the Domain of Sol.

- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
History-Era: Rebellion[edit]
Channel is an excellent example of how a single rare asset (a class B starport) can give new life to a planet's economy.
- Channel's neighbor Zeeland is a high-population world with a sizable merchant fleet, but no indigenous starship maintenance facilities. With the Hard Times threatening to reduce that fleet to non-functional junk, Zeeland tumed to neighboring Channel for its repair and maintenance needs. This kept Channel's starport humming with activity and staved off many of the negative effects of the Hard Times era.
- With its orbital and dirtside drydocks running over capacity, and a steady export trade of food stuffs, the once-insignificant world of Channel is now a boom town of commerce and transport.
