Campaign:NHNE/Worlds/Dragon
Dragon is a moon of Catseye the Coalfire Sub-System of the New Earth System
Astrography[edit]
see: New Earth System for astrographical context
Catseye is a small gas-giant that orbits the star Coalfire at 2.45 AU. It take 2230 days to do so.
Dragon orbits Catseye at 567,000km
Planetography[edit]
Summary[edit]
Dragon D200400-A Ni, Sa, Va
Starport[edit]
Dragon has a Class D Starport, an poor quality installation which includes few amenities. It includes fuel for starships. It only has a downport.
Size[edit]
Dragon is a Small World 3,100km in diameter. The world has low gravity of 0.13G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.
Atmosphere[edit]
Dragon has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Hydrosphere[edit]
Dragon has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Population[edit]
Dragon has a population of 23,000.
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- Most examples of this type are capable of resource extraction but lack an industrial base, in particular factories, to make use of the resources.
About 50% of the planet's population operate various vessels and stations that mine hydro-carbons in Catseye's atmosphere
Government[edit]
Dragon's Government (See Government of Dragon-Moon) is a plebiscite of all the registered residents of the moon. It is generally described as an Anarchy, but it is much less random than that and operates more like a giant family - including arguments, huffs and shouting matches.
Law[edit]
Dragon's is conventionally described as having no law. However, there is The Common Code. This has very strong cultural basis and is enforced by the residents.
Technology[edit]
The technology on Dragon is all imported from elsewhere in the system and is generally held to be 10.
Biology and Ecology[edit]
Native Biology[edit]
None
Transplanted Biology[edit]
In practical terms, the biology of Dragon is that of the Biodomes. This is entirely artificial and tailored for the provision of food and air-recycling for the residents.
Bioengineering[edit]
There is an extensive use of Bioengineered life in the colony, but there is little local facility for gene-tailoring.
Military[edit]
The population is armed but not militaristic.
Economy[edit]
The three great refineries provide the main income for the population. These are able to provide their product cheaper than anywhere else in the system.
Culture[edit]
The culture of Dragon is, in many ways "more belter than the belt".
History[edit]
First settled in 18 as a refinery for hydrocarbons mined from the atmosphere of Catseye.
