Description[edit]

The South Port Yacht Harbour is adjacent to the commercial South Pole Spaceport.

South Port Yacht Club Plan.jpg

The harbour is located in a natural crater with defined walls and a central mound/hill that houses the administrative and commercial buildings.

The rim of the crater has been replaced by a 50m diameter tube nearly 20km in length and used as a greenhouse for life support (it provides O2-production/CO2-scrubbing for over 5,000 people), food supply and recreational purposes.

Within the crater are the landing pads (Over 200 of them) mostly catering for vessels of up to 300 dTons, although a few are larger for more prestigious vessels. These are connected by tunnels that have recently been fully refurbished and now have artificial gravity throughout the public spaces.

The central "mountain" is capped by the Asteroid Racing Association Building, which overlooks the yacht port and is covered in gold leaf.

Access to the Asteroid Racing Association Building is via a commercial plaza that includes the prestigious, and internationally famous The Crash Landing bar and restaurant. The lower levels of the mountain include a ships chandlers, and other facilities pertinent to running the port itself.

Membership[edit]

Members and invited guests of the Asteroid Racing Association may use the port for Free, other visitors are charged Cr1000 for the first week and Cr1000 per day thereafter.

Full Membership is available annually (Cr40,000) or for a lifetime (Cr1,000,000) - although not just any applicant is accepted by the committee. There is a waiting list.

History[edit]

During the recent unstable period in Belt history, the South Port Yacht Harbour has turned some of its peripheral pads over for use by a commercial lighterage company to extend the capacity of the South Pole Spaceport while the North Pole Spaceport was unable to operate fully (or at all). Additionally, the Belter Navy stationed a small group of gunboats here from 295 to 298.

Notes[edit]

The patron of the yacht port is the head of the Adok Dynasty.
