Description

Governor Michael Powell took over after the resignation of Roger MacIntyre. He was a consummate politician and had previously served as Chief Secretary to the Captains Advisory Council. He used the Defection of the Captains to unseat his predecessor and take control of the colony.

During his tenancy, there was an exodus from the main colony - but he managed to maintain a semblance of unity (except for Matabele and the off-world settlements). He was greatly helped by the return of the Narayana from The Belt bringing much needed metals and other material resources in 12.

Following his retirement, Michael Powell moved onto the boards of a number of companies and is seen as the founder of the Powell Dynasty.

Family

Michael Powell was married to Jodie Powell, and brought up 7 children. His eldest son was Tyrell Powell.
