Governor Roger MacIntyre was the designated administrator for the initial landing in Alpha Centauri. He became the default leader of the Touchdown Colony. The departure of the Matabele contingent and the establishment of this second colony in 2 was ignored by his administration and the friction with the ship's captains that ultimately resulted in their defection was similarly under-estimated. As this was seen as a critical failure on his part he was forced to resign as a result.

Roger MacIntyre retired to become a teacher and was involved in the creation of Red Hill University, though he died days before the institution opened its doors.

Roger MacIntyre was divorced before he set off from the Sol System and was appointed despite his single status - one of the later points of friction. He left no offspring.
