Gregarious Driscoll was the first of the locally born to gain power. Her position was one of compromise - the favourites in the selection having been unable to get enough support and Gregarious was offered up as a place-holder.
Given the factionalism within the Colonists and the division between the generations, Gregarious Driscoll looked a perfect fit. In practice, she was unable to control the various parties and the colony split further with more break-away settlements setting up planetwide. One feature of her period in office was the appearance of the anti-terraforming, environmental protectionist factions that set up in Greenway, Highlands and, later, East Sapphire. The formation of an army by Llamas precipitates the end of her term.
Having held the highest office in the land at the time, Gregarious Driscoll sought obscurity after leaving the post. She established a small-holding near the coast about 1000km west of Touchdown City and played the role of hermit-sage and elder-statesman for the next 50 years.
Family[edit]
Gregarious Driscoll was the child of two lab technicians and her move into colonial administration and youth politics was achieved despite having a child aged just 16 and a second when she was 18. Her offspring have been locally important, but none have returned to the national or international stage.
