Worlds within 3 parsecs of Squanine[1]

Childhood[edit]

Escobar's childhood on Squanine was happy and well adjusted - why he went for the Imperial Marines when he did was never really a rational decision. It just seemed like a good thing to do. And for 8 years it was. His contemporaries also joined some form of Imperial service to escape the dullness of a small backwater.

Marine[edit]

Escobar Chavez spent 12 years as an Imperial Marine. Trin's Veil Subsector was not the busiest of Subsectors and Escobar spent the first eight years training against the eventuality that something would occur. Even when the rest of the Spinward Marches Sector went to war, Escobar was left in a quiet billet. And then he was volunteered for transfer to the front-line as a reinforcement. Planetary Assault was not something that Escobar would ever wish to repeat. However, as he wasn't a regular member of the regiment, he was allowed to leave the service when his term of service expired.

Scavenger[edit]

After the war, there were plenty of opportunities for scavengers to find items of value that had just been left on the battlefield. And then the riches dried up and life became less and less profitable - You adapted or starved. Escobar eventually signed on with a ship as the Gunner and plunged his savings into buying a share as a last fling of the dice before he retired.

Fireworm[edit]

Escobar was a key element of the safe transport of their first client - his shooting got them out of the ambush that was set for them with only minor damage. The involvement (officially non-involvement) with a bunch of Sword Worlds terrorists wasn't so different to any other job he had undertaken but the levels of risk appeared somewhat huge! Fortunately, the pay-outs were commensurate.

Having gained a reputation for the safe transport of individuals of interest from A to B in what was now a dangerous part of space, the ship gained an heroic reputation and Spyro was written off as dead. He had survived and reappeared in 1138 on the far side of the Deneb Sector on a ship that had been assumed to have been lost on the slipway: the Phoenix.
