Formed in 1111 with no ships, officially the Dinomn Naval Service was a mercenary escort squadron. It gained one vessel in 1112 (the Uurugaan) and thereafter the unit ran escorts for refugee aid convoys and supported covert operations for investigative groups looking into aid-grant fraud for 8 years. Thereafter, it became a customs support squadron for Dinomn with a single 400 dTon, reconditioned SDB and a few pinnaces.

In its early years, the Dinomn Naval Service was possibly a deniable asset of either the INI or Imperial Ministry of Justice. That connection (if it existed) was apparently dropped in 1120 when the unit's equipment and role changed significantly.
