Description

Calabaa is made from the Calabaa Tree; a plant that grows on Tainted Atmosphere worlds and has a good tolerance of a number of common aerial taints, yet still yields a palatable beverage.

Calabaa is quite acidic, has a strong taste of apple (Pentyl pentanoate), and has a minor hangover-suppressing effect in Humans and Vargr. It is a mild stimulant. Calabaa has been described as an acquired taste. Preparation is a simple matter of steeping the ground fibres in boiling water for a few minutes. Calabaa should be drunk when hot. Below 20 degrees Celsius, it can become unpalatably tart.

Hallin Products is a bulk supplier of Calabaa to the Million Subsector from plantations on Gabrael (Deneb 2807) and Ikhaba (Deneb 2905).

Prodution Process

Calabaa is created from dried and ground Calabaa Stones taken from the Calabaa Tree.

History

Calabaa was present on a number of worlds in Corridor, Deneb, Tuglikki and Provence Sectors at the start of the Third Imperium but its origin is obscure. It is rumored to have arrived with the Vargr even before the Long Night set in.
