The Anlisleans met the environmental crisis that all industrial societies face nearly one hundred years after the start of their industrial revolution. As nearly two billion Anlisleans poisoned their world, a quasi-religious anti-machine philosophy swept the planet, establishing a new order.

Anlisleans can speak -- or more accurately sing -- fluent Galanglic but with odd, buzzing accents.

Giving up technology is something all civilizations ponder during their development, but going "back to nature" without reintroducing pre-industrial drudgery and disease is nearly impossible. The Anlisleans are one of the few races that have pulled it off.
