Events[edit]

They had placed their ships in low orbit and had landed several initial survey teams. Peaceful relations were quickly established with several of the locals. Diplomatic gifts were exchanged. The ranking Aslan fleet admiral demanded the local leadership provide his fleet with provisions and life support. A single chief refused to cooperate, this chief refused to accept the Aslan's authority over them. It was decided to make an example of this uncooperative local. The fleet admiral and forty-nine followers landed on Mactan island, selected by the natives for the meeting to discuss terms. One thousand, five hundred native warriors were lying in wait. Many natives died under the Aslan's advanced weaponry. Eventually the fleet admiral, who felt honor bound to lead from the front, was targeted and wounded several times. He held them off in single combat until his team could get the wounded back to their boats. A handful of survivors made it back to orbit. The battle was lost but the courage of that admiral is still discussed at Aslan clan naval academies. The survivors fell back to an outpost which became the settlement on Tlaiowaha (world). Much latter the natives accepted client state status from the Imperial nobility under the condition that they be given imperial fleet support in the event of an Aslan return.
