The Jump-2 Barrier is the upper performance limit of DeVoss-type jump drives.

Description / Specifications[edit]

It is well-known that the jump-2 barrier can be broken – both the Voyagers and starship misjumps are testament to this – but to date a controlled jump beyond 2 parsecs cannot be initiated. The so-called Langstrom Drive seemed to offer the possibility of breaking the barrier but all research into the design was lost in 3730AD with the arrival of the Voyagers.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

The limitations created by the Jump-2 Barrier can be circumvented through the use of long-range and X-range vessels, through "piggybacking" or jump carriers, through the use of fuel tankers, and through pre-placed caches of fuel such as the Orowani Deep Space Fuel Cache.
