The Talak system has two inhabited planets, presumably both colonized by the same long-forgotten expedition.

System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

• The mainworld, Talak, orbiting at 10.8 AU.
• x2 secondary rocky worlds. These are inhabited Vahjdi, orbiting at 8.7 AU, and corrosive atmosphere Monkodo, orbiting at 14.2 AU.
• x1 large gas giant, Galsimar, orbiting at 18.7 AU.
  • It retains a number of large moons.
• x1 planetoid belt, the Kasama Belt, lying at a mean distance of 25.0 AU.

History & Background (Dossier)

Talak, the second world out from the star and the mainworld of the system, has an orbital period of 18 years 335 days (6,909 standard days).

The innermost world, Vahjdi, has an orbital period of 13 years 247 days (4,995 standard days). It has a very slow rotation period: one local day is equivalent to 70 standard days (almost 1700 standard hours).

• There are 71.4 local days in a local year.
• During the local day, the world experiences around 100 hours of dawn, 750 hours of daylight, 100 hours of twilight, and 750 hours of night.

It retains a fairly close, relatively large moon that orbits once every standard week.

• • Vahjdi experiences libration, a characteristic wobble with a frequency of 33 hours, caused by the moon and the mainworld orbiting their barycenter.
  • This wobble causes the star to rise and fall in the sky during the long local day, giving brighter and darker periods.
