Description (Specifications)
The Three Sisters are a three-ship class of heavy cargo haulers built in starting in 1128 by Midlothian Shipyards, The first two, the Elizabeth and the Anne, were commissioned by McTaggart and Singh Cartage, the Caledonian transportation firm, for hauling huge cargoes through jump space. Over the years, they hauled mining rigs, hulked and incomplete warships, entire prefabricated up-port sections, and even asteroids up to 250,000 tons, on jobs both within the Principality and all of Reaver's Deep.
An immense Open Structure "spine" with "arms" (containing the jump drive hyperfield projecters) that can be moved to "wrap around" the cargoes , the Sisters are fitted with powerful tractor beams and a special, custom jump drive capable of projecting a hyperfield around irregular shaped objects,
The Sisters never travel alone; they are usually accompanied by tender holding the support crews needed to "attach" and "detach" the cargoes, as well as tankers for fuel for longer jumps and, in less stable and secure areas, armed mercenary vessels for security. The Sisters are unarmed and unarmored.
In 1190, Midlothian built a third "Sister", the Hana, for a heavy transport firm in the Imperium.
