A Newton is the unit of measure for force.

Description (Specifications)

A newton is equal to 1 kilogram meter per second squared: 1 newton of force is the force required to accelerate an object with a mass of 1 kilogram 1 meter per second, over a period of 1 second.

A light blow such as a slap has a force of a few tens of newtons.

History & Background (Dossier)

The newton was first defined as a unit of force on Terra prior to the foundation of the Terran Confederation. Technologists found the newton useful as the concept of the Technology Level and standardized ideas about sophont society development began to take form.[1]
