The Breaker
A Jump Shoal region located in Magister Sector.
Details / Specifications
The Breaker is a region measuring approximately 7 parsecs coreward-rimward by 9 parsecs spinward-trailing and affecting an area of approximately 20 parsecs. The extensive astrophysical survey programs of the region carried out by the University of Tal Varisa have allowed the indirect detection of the presence of the anonymaly. Studies of the region are ongoing, though no definitive conclusions have yet been reached concerning its nature.
The Wraith Shoal bears a number of similarities to the Harmal Strange and Unstable Space regions lying within Halcyon and Far Home Sectors. If it shares the same properties as these regions it would likely have the following effects on starships:
- A jump-1 ship cannot enter jump space at all in this region; any vessel attempting to do so will suffer drive damage, as well as damage to the physical structure of the vessel.
- A jump-2 capable vessel can enter jump within the Strange, but will only cover one parsec before being dropped back into normal space. Fuel consumption is normal for the drive. Long range vessels have been able to cross the shoal.
History
The feature was detected by the University of Tal Varisa Deep Sky Program. It became public knowledge following publication of the "Where The Stars End" Astrographic Survey in 5550AD.
