A Jump Deep region located in Kineda Sector.

Details / Specifications

The Heart of the Dark is a region measuring around 5 parsecs coreward-rimward by 6 parsecs spinward-trailing and covers an area of approximately 16 parsecs. The extensive astrophysical survey programs of the region carried out by the University of Selasia have allowed the indirect detection of the presence of the anomaly. Studies of the region are ongoing, though no definitive conclusions have yet been reached concerning its nature.

  • Though there is no direct proof (nobody has actually visited the location to test the theory) jump physicists propose that ships attempting to cross the Heart of the Dark would require extra fuel to maintain their jump field for an extended duration.

History

The feature was detected by the University of Tal Varisa Deep Sky Program. It became public knowledge following publication of the "Where The Stars End" Astrographic Survey in 5550AD.
