That broad expanse of sectors lying to coreward of the Distant Fringe and rimward of Terra, believed to be unpopulated except for occasional worlds with indigenous Sophont species. It is likely that the Vilani Imperium have occupied at least some of the Barren Worlds during their pursuit of the Last Armada. Those sectors of the Barren worlds lying directly to coreward of the Distant Fringe but rimward of the Shadow Rifts are believed to be the current location of the Voyagers.
